Teaching and Learning Across Cultures In-Person

Join international educator and presenter Dr Shanton Chang for this interactive workshop session that highlights the opportunities and challenges in teaching and learning across cultures. It seeks to explain student attitudes and behaviours. Understanding of the impact of cultures on student attitudes and behaviours can often point towards productive solutions for curriculum development and teaching in a multicultural classroom.

Shanton Chang is an Associate Professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne. His current primary areas of research include the Online Behaviour of Internet Users in Health and Education, Information Security Culture, Information Needs and the Relationship between Cultures and Information Technology. 

He is a recipient of a number of Awards for Excellence in Teaching from the University, as well as a National OLT Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning (in the area of teaching and learning across diversity). Shanton consults on online behaviour of young people, online education and interaction across cultures. He was also part of the award winning project "Finding Common Ground" which focused on interactions between domestic and international students in the classroom. Shanton has been involved in the international education sector in Australia for more than two decades. His involvement started during his days as an international student in the early nineties.
