Lunchtime Kōrero: Have you ever wondered if you could turn your thesis into a book? In-Person

Take a break and widen your research horizon by listening to a 20-to-30-minute talk followed by Q&A and networking over tea, coffee and biscuits! Every first Wednesday of the month, tea and coffee will be provided. We encourage you to bring your own cup (however cups are available if you forget).

Have you ever wondered if you could turn your thesis into a book?

Join Catherine Montgomery, Katrina McCallum, Lily Duval and Anna Rogers as they share their insights into the publishing process, what makes a successful book,  how to make a pitch to a publisher, the challenges of reframing a thesis for publication and how working with an editor differs from working with a supervisor. Also discussed will be the benefits and costs involved in publishing a book.

Catherine Montgomery is the publisher at Canterbury University Press

Katrina McCallum is the publishing editor at Canterbury University Press

Lily Duval has an MA (Distinction) in English Literature from University of Canterbury and is the author of Six-legged Ghosts: The insects of Aotearoa (Canterbury University Press).

Anna Rogers (MA English) is a freelance fiction and non-fiction book editor whose extensive experience includes books that started their lives as theses.
